Le peuple admirable: Put your hand in your pockets

2.jpgMauritians are all waiting anxiously for the forthcoming budget. So much has been said about the catastrophic economic situation, that the people are expecting the worse nightmare.

Will the VAT rate go as high as 20%? Will other professions and trade be obliged to register for VAT? Will the registration threshold decrease from Rs 3.0 m to Rs 1.0m?

Who will pay for our huge national debt? Someone has to pay. Who?Will you have to pay more taxes on your salaries? Will the Ministers' perks be reduced to set examples? Will the middle class have to dig even more in their pockets?

Will there be some kind of taxes on the huge wealth of some persons?

The government is walking on eggs as we say: trying to manage the economy in such difficult situation but at same time trying to keep the generous promises made to the common people....

So let's wait and see ... only few days are left.

In any case, 'le peuple admirable' -start putting your hands in BOTH of your pockets; you could be facing a chilling winter....
